  • Position Summary
    Under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller, this position assists with maintaining financial records, accounts, ledgers, and other accounts payable information in UW-La Crosse’s financial systems. This position will train and provide guidance, interpretation, and information on rules, regulations, and guidelines of varying complexity to internal and external customers. This position is responsible for processing invoices, direct payments, completing reconciliations, and other accounts payable functions. The normal work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    Required Qualifications
    High School Diploma or equivalent
    Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
    Proficient in the use of computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
    Knowledge and experience in the use of email functions, including electronic calendars.
    Possess attention to detail and timelines/due dates despite frequent interruptions.
    Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    The ability to multitask when necessary.
    Effective oral and written communication skills.
    Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding confidential information.
    Ability to meet and work effectively with people across multiple levels of the organization.
    Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
    Strong problem-solving, documentation, research and resolution, data analysis, and multi-tasking skills.
    Ability and willingness to maintain and enhance professional competencies by participating in professional development workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience performing accounts payable functions.
    Experience using accounting package software, such as QuickBooks.
    Experience with PeopleSoft, JAGGAER, and Workday products.
    Associate’s degree in accounting or related field.
    Physical Demands
    The ability to sit for extended periods of time.
