Job Description Summary:
The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) within the Milken Institute School of Public Health is recruiting a Research Scientist to conduct epidemiologic research into environmental exposures and chronic disease.
The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) advances environmental health through rigorous research and training of students and fellows. EOH Department research investigates issues including exposure to chemicals in consumer care products, workplace hazards, climate change and air pollution mitigation, infectious diseases, and antibiotic resistance. EOH faculty lead research programs funded by organizations such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), foundations, and other sources. The EOH Department is home to GW’s Antibiotic Research Action Center and the Climate and Health Institute, which has earned federal funding as part of a multi-institution collaboration aimed at developing climate solutions that advance health and environmental justice.
EOH is searching for a full-time Research Scientist who would like to join a team focused on environmental exposures and chronic disease epidemiology. The successful candidate will be an integral part of an NIEHS-funded research study examining environmental and climate-related exposures and chronic disease mortality.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Combine data from exposure and health sources and structure datasets for use in epidemiologic study.
Perform epidemiologic modeling, using SAS preferred.
Work collaboratively with co-investigators.
Prepare and present analysis tables to collaborators and external community members.
Write manuscripts and create presentations to effectively communicate about the research.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Master’s degree plus 5 years of experience or a PhD plus 2 years of experience in a related discipline to include at least 2 years of research and/or college level teaching in a field basic to the work to be performed. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Epidemiology or Environmental Health or MPH in Epidemiology or Environmental Health is desired.
Experience working with SAS preferred.
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
Enjoys working as part of a team.
