Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington houses approximately 5200 students in a combination of residence halls, suites, and apartments.
In order to facilitate a positive living experience on the campus, a variety of staff are necessary to carry out the responsibilities. Full-time professional staff, student residence hall staff and facilities staff work to develop an atmosphere conducive to academic and personal growth. Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Housing Technology Support Analyst works under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Technology. This position is responsible for providing hardware and software technical support to departmental users by troubleshooting information technology problems and assisting in implementing corrective actions in a timely manner. Strong customer service skills are a must.
This position also manages file share and server systems, performs system upgrades, and is responsible for implementing new security requirements as directed by the university’s Information Technology Services department. Additionally, the Housing Technology Support Analyst performs administrator functions on several departmental information systems including Active Directory, residential management database systems, Easy Lobby visitor management system, Microsoft SharePoint, digital signage systems, and Cascade website content management.
The Housing Technology Support Analyst assists the Assistant Director of Technology with inventory management of the department’s information technology equipment, as well as the planning of long-term replacement cycle of hardware and software licensing to ensure requirements are budgeted appropriately.
In the absence of the Assistant Director of Technology, the Housing Technology Support Analyst oversees many aspects of core departmental computing and marketing operations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from a two year technical college with a major in an information technology field and one year in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four year college or university and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four year college or university with a major in an information technology area. Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
Prior network helpdesk experience.
Prior experience with a housing management software system (RMS, StarRez, etc.).
Prior experience with server administration (e.g. Active Directory) and SQL database systems.
Prior experience with network software, hardware and software support, and Microsoft SharePoint site management.
