    A cover letter (maximum of 3 pages) which highlights information regarding the applicant’s teaching philosophy, and objectives for teaching within an environment which serves a community of students with a wide variety of backgrounds and interests.
    Links to an online portfolio/website highlighting artistic work, which must include:
    2 coaching videos, no longer than 15-minutes each, demonstrating work with 2 students. Videos may be edited for length.
    Conducting video of approximately 15 minutes of rehearsal footage and/or 15 minutes from a recent performance within the last 3 years.
    Unofficial transcripts for highest degree earned.

    Position Summary
    The Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia (UGA) invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Academic Professional Associate serving as the UGA Opera Vocal Coach/Music Director beginning in August 2025. The successful applicant will have a record of excellence at the collegiate, national and/or international level as a collaborative pianist, opera coach, and conductor. This is a full-time (9 month), benefits-eligible, non-tenure track appointment, beginning August 1, 2025.

    Responsibilities:
    Collaborate with and assist the UGA Director of Opera in all matters including: planning, scheduling, selecting repertoire, serving on the opera casting committee, securing the orchestra, musical preparation, and conducting opera rehearsals/performances.
    Coach individual singers and ensembles on operatic and recital repertoire.
    Play for opera productions/concerts/rehearsals as needed.
    Teach diction classes.
    Participate fully in the activities of the voice area, including but not limited to: attending faculty meetings, adjudicating juries, attending auditions, recruiting, supervision of collaborative piano TA.
    Other duties as assigned.
    Additional Requirements
    Candidates with non-terminal master’s degree must document exceptional accomplishments in their respective field and must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.
    Evidence of an established or emerging national profile with a minimum of two years’ professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
    Demonstrated accomplishments in performance as a collaborative pianist.
    Coaching of operatic and vocal repertoire.
    Demonstrated accomplishments as a conductor of operatic repertoire.
    Successful teaching at the university/young artist level.
    Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
    Demonstrated knowledge in both standard and contemporary opera repertory.
    Ability to teach diction at the university/collegiate level.
    Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse student body of graduate and undergraduate students and faculty.
    Professional and collegial collaboration with peers to create and establish of a supportive, positive, and productive rehearsal culture.
    Ability and desire to contribute to a dynamic, holistic music program that prepares students for a music career in the 21st century, including initiating and leading innovative community engagement projects in a region known for its music and arts culture.
