  • Summary
    The Financial Analyst will work closely with all areas of the Internal Medicine Department. Our team supports 13 divisions as well as the Chief Administrative Officer and Department Chair.

    We handle the financial reporting and forecasting for a department of approximately 900 faculty that significantly contribute to the tripartite mission. We work closely with Departmental and Michigan Medicine financial teams to provide decision support, forecasting, and various analysis throughout the year.

    Ideal candidates are adaptable and willing to take on a broad variety of additional tasks to improve operational efficiency, make or prepare presentations to internal groups, and other duties as assigned, functioning with a high degree of independence to deliver projects in a timely and effective manner.

    Responsibilities*
    Financial lead for four divisions, providing the following services:
    Assist in the calculation of the annual budget and mid-year forecasts.
    Audit yearly Internal Controls processes/procedures.
    Monthly financial variance reporting.
    Prepare ROIs.
    Enter Capital Equipment into Procurement website.
    Aid/provide guidance for ad-hoc questions.
    Maintain the gift, endowment, and professorship databases.
    Assist Development Office with quarterly donor reports.
    Post journal entries for various awards, faculty compensation, and intra-department transfers.
    Participating in special projects to improve reporting, analysis, and internal processes.
    Required Qualifications*
    Senior Level:

    Bachelors degree with a focus in Accounting or Finance.
    Minimum 5-8 years of financial experience.
    Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite applications.
    Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills.
    Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
    Strong ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    Intermediate Level:

    Bachelors degree with a focus in Accounting or Finance.
    Minimum 2-5 years of financial experience.
    Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite applications.
    Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills.
    Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
    Strong ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    Desired Qualifications*
    Knowledge of University of Michigan systems and processes.
    Financial experience in a healthcare setting.
