    The Department of Biochemistry is seeking an administrative coordinator with strong organizational skills and attention to detail to support a large department.

    This person will provide broad spectrum administrative support to the department and individual labs as needed. The role requires extensive responsibilities around procurement, international scholars (ISSO), laboratory supply and utilization of Boston University systems. The position requires flexibility and the ability to operate in a busy, dynamic environment.

    Responsibilities Include:

    Ordering lab supplies, equipment, and animal orders for multiple labs. This includes working with vendors to register them and arrange payment while working closely with Accounts Payable to pay and reconcile invoices.
    Working with ISSO and candidates for all International Scholar functions. This includes being the contact person for the department, gathering required documents, and interacting with candidates.
    Provides administrative support for the department's ongoing faculty searches. This includes CV review, search committee participation, organizing candidate visits, and advertising.
    Acting as Department point person for Facilities, renovation, service calls, telecommunications, and Environmental Safety.
    Performing various other administrative activities for the Department of Biochemistry in the School of Medicine.
    Required Skills
    Bachelor's Degree required.
    3-5 years of experience required.
    Must have strong proficiency in MS Office Applications – Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
    ISSO experience preferred.
    Previous work experience in an academic or research setting desired.
