  • Position Summary
    The Flex Nursing Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and operating various clinical programs for the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center (AZPDIC) and SinfoniaRx Tucson Medication Management Center (SRx). This position will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including nurses, pharmacists, physicians, nursing students, pharmacy technicians, pharmacist interns, and pharmacy students to coordinate the delivery of medication therapy management services and opioid overutilization management services.

    The Flex Nursing Specialist will be stationed at both AZPDIC as well as SRx and will have responsibilities based on the center located. Primary responsibilities will include directing day to day operations of the Opioid Assistance and Referral Line and the Opioid Monitoring System including patient management, provider outreach, reporting, and collaborating in process improvement.

    Duties & Responsibilities
    Coordinate nursing students/interns in the delivery of overutilization management services.
    Coordinate various nurse driven programs. Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders for program implementation and ensure all client needs are met.
    Communicate with healthcare providers via telephone and fax regarding patient care and case management.
    Successfully and empathetically communicate with patients via telephone.
    Collaborate and train nursing interns in program workflow and processes related to care delivery.
    Refer patients to Medication Assisted Treatment facilities.
    Follow-up with patients referred to care.
    Additional duties related to this position may be assigned by supervisor.
    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    Proficiency in MTM software such as RxCompanion.
    Advanced skills and understanding of computer software, healthcare systems and programs, and Microsoft Office.
    Ability to communicate effectively and professionally through written, verbal, and interpersonal skills as applied when interacting with employees, clients, or agency representatives.
    Successfully conveying and exchanging information in a positive manner.
    Ability to work both in a team and individually on assignments.
    Ability to critically think to improve program operations and patient interactions.
