    The College of Science and Humanities at Husson University invites applications for a full-time, ranked faculty position in Physics to begin in fall 2019.

    This position will complement existing programmatic and faculty expertise in the College of Science and Humanities, which currently offers undergraduate degrees in Health Sciences, Exercise Science, Biology, Biochemistry, and Environmental Science. Faculty in the College of Science and Humanities have an established culture of emphasizing strong teaching, incorporating undergraduate students into research projects, and providing experiential learning opportunities for its majors. All ranked faculty are expected to fulfill institutional expectations of teaching, service, advising, and research.

    Husson University is a private institution of approximately 3500 undergraduate and graduate students located in Bangor, Maine. The University is dedicated to offering premier professional programs designed to maximize experiential learning opportunities and student success. Bangor has been ranked as one of the top 50 small cities in the U.S. It offers a safe, affordable community with excellent education and healthcare, easy access to major urban centers, and a wealth of outdoor recreation opportunities. Year round activities can be enjoyed on the numerous lakes, trails, and ski areas. The University is approximately 40 minutes from the Maine coast and the nearby mountains of Acadia National Park.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Teaching responsibilities will include introductory physics lecture and laboratory, and occasional upper-level courses within the candidate’s area of specialization. All ranked faculty are expected to fulfill institutional expectations of teaching, service, advising, and scholarship.

    Education and Experience
    Requirements for the position include an earned doctorate in Physics or an associated field by the date of appointment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to effective teaching and student learning, as well as the ability to collaborate across disciplines to develop outstanding educational opportunities for students. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching and mentoring student research at the undergraduate level.
