  • Position Summary
    Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor of Musicology in the Music and Theatre Arts department. This anticipated opening is for the 2019-2020 academic year and is tenure track.

    We are seeking an outstanding candidate with a strong record of teaching and research for a tenure-track faculty appointment in musicology/ethnomusicology. Candidate must have a PhD in Musicology or Ethnomusicology. All areas of specialization will be considered, but specialists in ethnomusicology, American music, and/or vernacular music are especially encouraged to apply.

    Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in musicology/ethnomusicology, advising student research, student academic advisement, maintaining an active program of research and scholarly publication; participating in department and university-wide committees, recruitment, and other service activities.

    The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with Monmouth University’s Grammy Affiliate program, our production facilities at Lakehouse Studios in Asbury Park, and in initiatives associated with MU’s Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music.
