    The primary role of the Division of Diversity and Inclusion is to ensure that diversity, in its many forms, is understood, respected, and valued. The Division advocates for access, equity and inclusion while encouraging critical dialogue, thinking, and meaningful educational interactions on campus and in the community. The Division includes the following departments: Campus Climate, ACCESS Center, Diversity and Inclusion, Multicultural Student Services, Pride Center, Student Support Services, and Upward Bound.

    Position Summary
    The Director will administer the Department of Education TRIO program serving Student Support Services (SSS) eligible college students. The duties of the position include the following: assure that the missions of both TRIO and SSS are completed, which is to retain and graduate program participants by completing the objectives outlined in the grant proposal; supervise professional staff; oversee budget expenditures; write and submit annual performance reports (APR) and SSS grant proposal; serve as a liaison with campus administrative and academic departments; serve as a liaison with the Department of Education to assure compliance with federal regulations; provide direct services to SSS participants.

    Required Qualifications
    • Master’s degree in Administration, Counseling, Education, or a related degree.
    • Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in the administration and management of a program or department, including program development and administration, supervision of personnel, budget development and management.
    • Minimum of three years of work related experience teaching at a post-secondary level, counseling, academic advising, or direct support to students.
    • Have demonstrated a strong commitment to underrepresented populations including but not limited to first generation, racially and ethnically diverse students, low income, veterans, returning adults, and students with disabilities.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Ph.D. in Administration, Counseling, Education, or a related degree.
    • Three or more years of experience in the administration and management of educational opportunity or support services programs, including program development and administration, supervision or personnel, budget development and management.
    • Successful experience in grant writing and management.
    • Two or more years of experience working with TRIO and/or traditionally underrepresented populations including first generation, low income, racially and ethnically diverse students, veterans, returning adult and students with disabilities.
    • Successful experience in developing a collaborative team approach within a unit or department.
    • An individual with similar experience or background of TRIO participants.

    Physical Demands
    • The ability to lift 25-50 lbs. on an occasional basis.

    Working conditions and environment
    • Some travel may be necessary and occasional evenings and weekends to meet the needs of department.
