    The Department of Music and Theatre at Rhodes College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre Performance. Rhodes College is especially interested in attracting candidates from historically underrepresented groups and/or those with demonstrated commitment to working with diverse and historically underrepresented populations. The successful candidate will devise and direct productions as part of a 3-2 teaching load, and will teach Introduction to Theatre, Acting I & II, Directing or Devising Performance, Voice and/or Movement for the stage, and related courses in the candidate’s area of specialty. The candidate can anticipate working collaboratively on other performance projects within the department and contributing to the college’s interdisciplinary programs such as Africana Studies, Urban Studies, or Latin American and Latinx Studies. We are especially interested in candidates who can offer modalities such as voice for actors, dance for actors, and specialties such as Capoeira Angola, Street Dance, or Suzuki and Viewpoints, with appropriate historical and theoretical grounding. A degree that marks expertise in embodied performance training is required. Candidates must have completed all requirements for the terminal degree by July 2019.
