    NIGMS INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT AWARD (IRACDA) PROGRAM

    Rochester Postdoc Partnership IRACDA to Advance Research and Academic Careers of
    Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Scholars

    This unique mentored postdoctoral research training program to diversify the nation’s workforce to include Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Scientists combines research training at the University of Rochester (UR) with instruction in critical academic skills, including experiential training in teaching at our partner institution, the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) and other Colleges at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

    MISSION OF ROCHESTER POSTDOC PARTNERSHIP IRACDA TRAINING PROGRAM IS TO:
    • Develop a group of highly trained biomedical and behavioral scientists who have the necessary knowledge, skills and experiences to pursue independent research and teaching careers in academia thereby diversifying the nation’s workforce to include Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Scientists.
    • Strengthen and modernize science educational offerings and research collaborations between the UR and RIT/NTID, an institution with a demonstrated commitment to educating Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral research enterprise of the nation.

    ELIGIBILITY (Several positions available)
    • Requires PhD or equivalent in biomedical or behavioral sciences
    o Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing postdocs
    o Hearing postdocs (e.g., CODAs) skilled in ASL and/or substantial experience working with the Deaf Community.
    • Eligible applicants with no previous postdoctoral experience or up to 3 years of postdoctoral experience may apply.
    • Postdoctoral Fellowship positions are funded for up to 3 years with yearly reappointment subject to annual review (Salary commensurate with experience).

    +++Per NIH restrictions, by the time of appointment, each postdoctoral fellow must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United State+++
