The verbal section of the GRE will create some problems for me because my vocab is not great at all. Any suggestions on how to better prepare for the test? Memorizing?

Try to memorize the words. Although Kaplan has a list of around 250 vocab words that are most likely to appear in the verbal part of the GRE exam. Going to their class or purchasing their study guide will provide more hints and pointers on how to prepare for the exam.
