How do state mandated tests affect education negatively?

As they are called mandated or standardized tests, they are not a true measure of how well a student perform in school. It's just one way to set a gauge and a bar to try to compare from one student to the next. The negative part about these test is university look at those scores as they admit students and a lot of times you would have a student that score poorly on these tests but actually is a straight A student.
