What can educators or the school system do to prevent or lower the dropout rates?

If you want kids to stay in school, it's not that difficult. We can propose to drop the GED programs and then make high school diploma a requirement for all vehicle licenses. If you need a license, you will need a HS diploma.

Well, i think your idea is a little too extreme. Having this zero tolerance type rule will only provoke a higher rate of dropouts. As we all know kids at that age are rebellious in nature. I think we should take a softer approach to this problem. Like try to let them see the importance of getting an education, what kind of career you can have and the life you can have for going to college, etc.
