- Rejection Letters
I heard that some time ago, a Ph.D. grad in the department applied for a faculty position in a university in California and was rejected. The rejection letter seemed to write to him personally. However, the letter was addressed to someone else. He was quite upset not just because of the rejection, but also the carelessness that the hiring department sent the rejection letter.
Did this happen to other people as well?

It is quite possible that most departments have a "standard" rejection letter that is somewhat personalized (customized) to be sent to the candidate. But addressing to a wrong person is something the department should have avoided. I hope they had their "Offer Letter" addressed correctly to the right applicant.

Well. There are people not even got any letter after sending the application.
