If you did bad in Chem I, is that a strong indication that you will do poorly in Chem II?

If you are bad in chem I, it doesn't mean that you are going to be bad in chem II, the reasoning behind it is chem I is an intro class for most freshman and the exams are generally multiple choice exam. So there might be a chance that you do poorly in chem I because you are not very good at taking multiple choice exam or you do not learn as much when the class size is 500 people.
